Exercise More: The Jillian Michaels “30 Day Shred” 20-Minute Work-Out

Exercise more… I think that is the toughest resolution to keep, and the one we all know we should really pay the most attention to. Luckily, I love healthy food, I enjoy getting organized, and I’m fortunate enough to make my own schedule so I can play with the kids. But exercising always throws me for a loop. There just never seems to be enough time — with a one and three year old, it’s hard enough to fit a shower into the day! So when it comes to really burning some calories, I need a quick and easy solution. I find that getting in my car and driving to the gym never ends up happening, so the easiest thing for me is to exercise in my home. I also need a bit of a kick, so a trainer-led workout DVD is my go-to, and the best one I’ve found is Jillian Michael’s 30-Day Shred. Here’s what you need and why it works so well:

Simply said, Jillian kicks your butt. The DVD has three 20-minute workouts (yup, that’s it, 20 minutes!). But I assure you, by the end of the 20 minutes, you’ll feel like you just worked out an hour. She bases her system on the 3-2-1 method: 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio, 1 minutes of abs; then repeat and repeat. You start with Level 1, then move up to Levels 2 and 3 as you feel comfortable. If you do this close to everyday for a month (I did it about 6 days a week), you’ll absolutely see results. I first used it last winter when I knew I had to put a bathing suit on in the middle of March. By the time I went, I was definitely more toned and could feel the difference in my weight and stamina.
